Handmade Leather Sandals For Women With Arch Support

Every pair is made by hand in our own workshop, in genuine leather — nubuck, oiled, nappa or suede. Underneath sits a natural cork and latex footbed, covered in soft leather, shaped to follow the arch of your foot rather than flatten it. The outsole is lightweight EVA: it grips, it wears well, and it keeps the whole sandal light enough to walk in all day.

What arch support actually does

A flat sandal lets your foot spread and drop with every step, and by the afternoon you feel it in the arch and the heel. A contoured footbed does the opposite — it fills the space under the arch so your weight is carried across the whole foot instead of a few pressure points. Cork is what makes this last: it is firm enough to hold the shape, and warm enough to soften slightly to your foot over the first week or two. That break-in is normal, and it is the reason a cork footbed feels better in month three than on day one.

Pick your style

Thong sandals sit closest to the foot and are the lightest of the range — the ones people take on holiday. One-strap and two-strap styles give you an adjustable buckle across the instep, which matters if your feet swell in heat or if you are between widths. Multi-strap sandals hold the foot from more points and feel the most secure for long days on hard pavement. Closed toe sandals and clogs keep the toes covered while the heel stays open — a summer shoe you can wear into an office.

Sizing and fit

Our sandals run true to European sizing. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: the leather relaxes slightly and the footbed needs a few millimetres of room at the toe. Adjustable buckles give roughly a full width of adjustment, so a wider foot is usually better served by a one- or two-strap style than by a thong. Every product page carries the measurements for that model, and if you are unsure, our size guide is linked from the footer.

Looking after them

Wipe the leather with a dry cloth after a beach or a dusty day, and let the footbed dry away from direct sun or a radiator. A neutral leather cream two or three times a season keeps nubuck and nappa from drying out. The cork footbed does not need treatment — it darkens with wear, which is the leather covering taking on the shape of your foot, not damage.

Frequently asked

Are these suitable for flat feet or plantar fasciitis? Many of our customers buy them for exactly that reason, and a contoured cork footbed is the feature they are looking for. We are shoemakers rather than clinicians, though — if you are being treated for a foot condition, check with your podiatrist before changing what you walk in every day.

How long does the break-in take? Usually five to ten days of normal wear. Start with a few hours a day rather than a full day out.

Can I wear them without socks all summer? Yes. The footbed is leather-covered, so it stays comfortable against bare skin and does not get slippery the way a synthetic lining does.

What about shipping and returns? Shipping is free and duties and taxes are already paid, so nothing is collected on delivery. Orders arrive in two to three working days, and you have 30 days to return a pair that is not right.
